Dear Volker, dear friends,
For this year, the Ψk management had granted financial support for a 'hands-on' training course on VASP. Unfortunately, we have to delay the course until february next year. The reasons are the availability of a sufficient number of work-places on one side, and pending work on a GUI for VASP. We had planned to hold the workshop with the present version of the code, but we now prefer to shift it until the GUI will be available. The reason is that people accustomed to run DFT calculations don't really need a training course as VASP is easy to use. Hence the participants will be mostly newcomers, and for them a GUI will be a great help.
I hope that the Ψk management will accept the change of date. This would also make it easier to finance Xavier's worksop this year, and we do not plan another workshop in 2003.
Best regards,
Juergen
